1. Is
Permanent Makeup right for me? 1. Am I a candidate for Permanent Makeup? If you are active, want to look your best 24 hours a day or if any of the following describe you:
or if you simply want to free yourself of the time it takes you to apply makeup everyday. If you have no history of keloid scarring in your family, you are a candidate for Permanent Makeup. 2. What is Permanent Makeup?Permanent Makeup is also known as derma graphics, permanent cosmetics or micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing and trans-dermal pigment implantation. Derma graphics is the enhancement of the face or re-pigmentation of hypo-pigmented areas of the dermis with non-reactive, hypo-allergenic natural iron-oxide colored pigments which are implanted into the very first layers of the skin like a tattoo. These pigments are very natural looking. Also available is the trendier of colors and basic cosmetic colors. The procedure is the same as tattooing, and is permanent. However, with permanent makeup, the pigments are lighter, such as earth tones, therefore making touchups necessary about every three to five years. Of course this varies with age, skin tone, body chemistry, sun exposure and exfoliation. We use the highest quality equipment. Our educated, skilled technicians are artist at permanent makeup application. 3. When is Permanent Makeup usually performed?Anytime the mood strikes, although you must be at least 18 years of age (in most states) to get any type of tattoo. Back to Top4. What if I want to change my makeup? We come as close to nature as possible, so cosmetics may be applied over your permanent makeup for color variety. Your permanent makeup will become part of your skin and we will enhance your natural facial features. No applied makeup is necessary unless you want to add it for a more dramatic look or evening makeup. 5. What does a typical Permanent Makeup consultation entail?First you must find a well established technician to perform the application. You should view photos of the technician's work and check for credentials and experience as well as check the procedure environment for cleanliness and/or sterility. This procedure is slightly invasive and you should inspect the technicians general area for neatness and biohazardous waste disposal. One approach is to have the technician "draw on" your desired permanent makeup look, having them show you various colors, testing them on your skin. Be extremely cautious of "deals" from flea market vendors, "in-home" so called technician's. Like most things in life, with Permanent Makeup you really do get what you pay for. 6. How is Permanent Makeup performed?Permanent Makeup is applied by enhancing the face or re-pigmentation of hypo- pigmented areas of the dermis with non-reactive, hypo-allergenic natural iron-oxide colored pigments which are implanted into the very first layers of the skin with a tattoo like "gun" or "pen". The longer version: Any type of tattoo is applied by using a small electric device (a traditional gun, rotary pen, machine coil, Softap™, or by hand) with a needle bar that holds from one to 14 needles, each in its own little tube, to implant colored pigments Prior to getting a tattoo, the technician puts on a pair of latex gloves or other types if you or he/she has a latex allergy and inspects your skin to make sure you have no cuts, scrapes or other types of broken skin. The area is either swabbed with alcohol or sprayed with an anantiseptic solution or both. Then, the technician "draws" your desired look onto
your skin. You are then asked to verify the placement, position and so
forth of the design you are about to implant into your skin. If
everything is good then a thin layer of petroleum jelly, or other
ointment, is spread over the area to be pigmented. Back to Top7. What are the differences in the machines that perform Permanent Makeup? The machines are just different models and different quality. Some are like a hand held cordless pen. The prices the units are the distinguishing factor, ranging from $250. to more than $3,000. While the equipment used can make a difference, the skills of the technical artist will have the greatest impact on the results you experience. The use of high quality pigments will also have a positive impact on your experience. And most importantly, make sure that your procedure includes a thorough consultation. This will ensure that you have a detailed understanding of what is possible, and that the technician understands exactly what you want. It's only through this consultation that you can be confident that you will achieve the results you desire. Back to Top8. What should I expect after Permanent Makeup? When the technician has completed your Permanent Makeup, the area is sprayed with water and antiseptic and wiped off. A layer of ointment or Vasoline is applied over the pigmented area and you are instructed to apply ointment or Vasoline for seven days. After this time, do not apply more Vasoline to the area, instead leave it exposed to the air so that it can begin to heal, but keep the area clean until the healing is complete. It takes about a week (usually seven to ten days) for the procedure to heal. Until then, you should not apply cosmetics over the area No peeling of the area. If it flakes, let it flake or you may pull pigment our out of the area and cause splotchiness. Do NOT expose your permanent makeup to direct sunlight for at least two weeks. If you do, you may get sunburn or changes in pigment (i.e. color fade). Use sunscreen daily. Do NOT swim for this two week period in fresh, salt or chlorinated water. This could cause pigment fade. Back to Top9. When can I return to work? Most can return to work or other daily activities immediately although there may be redness that is apparent, very slight swelling and the area treated will be scabby for at least a week; however this is usually very minimal. Back to Top10. When will I be able to see the results? Results are seen immediately although the full end result is seen in approximately four weeks. The color will have faded to the color you had chosen and the light scabbing will be almost completely gone. You may need a touch up and we include this initial touch up free of charge when necessary. Back to Top11. What does it cost?Fees may vary based on the creations required, which
will be personalized at your consultation. Our base price for eyebrows, eyeliners, and eyelash
enhancements, starts at $375.00 to $600.00.
12. Is it painful? No. A topical anesthetic is applies prior to and during each procedure to numb the epidermis.
